Blog Milestone: 10,000+ Visitors!

I launched Romance Writers on the Journey May 26, 2008 with the idea of reaching out to others like me who dream of publishing their first romance novel. I was a techno-phobe with no clue but plenty of determination. Before I launched into Cyberspace, I visited many wonderful blogs, read several great how-to-do-it-well articles, and found a provider and template I liked.

The blog began under a different URL. I soon realized my name wasn’t easy to spell or remember. Visitors remember blog names, though, so I changed the URL to reflect that.

award_ribbons_72dpi_2The original site ( has had 2,500 page views. This site went over 7,500 during D.D. Scott’s post 12/4. Much to my amazement that is 10,000 visitors in just over six months. Not a biggie compared to the mega-successful blogs out there, but to me it’s HUGE.

I attribute this milestone to my amazing guests and wonderfully supportive readers.

And now it’s time for a little celebration . . .

In honor of my 10,000 plus visitors, I’m giving away 10 prizes.

To be entered in the drawing, leave a comment in which you share something that’s been a milestone in your life and include your email address when prompted.

I’ll hold the drawing the morning of 12/8, and notify all ten winners at once (with addresses hidden, of course). They’ll get to choose their prizes based upon who gets back to me first.

Congratulations to the winners:

Annette, Becky, Carla, Keena, Louisa, Missy, Paisley, Roxanne, Sue and Walt

  1. Wow! I think that number is amazing. Congrats on your blog success 🙂 I’ve really enjoyed reading about others, like me, pursuing publication.
    You’ve done a great job!

  2. Congratulations, Keli! I am not surprised in the least. This is a great blog and gives us all the chance to meet the romance writers of the future. It is so comforting to read the stories of others who are where I am or where I want to be. This is one of the outstanding blogs around!

  3. Walt Mussell says:

Congrats, Keli. My blog on college football has only drawn 8,400 in the past year, so you’re doing way better than me.

  4. Anne Barton says:

Congrats, Keli! I’ll bet your next 10,000 hits will take even less time. Thanks for creating this blog where those of us on the journey can hang out. You rock.

  5. Sue Mason says:

    Hi Keli,

Congratulations on achieving such a great milestone. You deserve it! Your blog is so wonderful with great interviews and really good advice.

Milestone – well for my writing life, this past March, when I became a finalist in the Golden Heart, was a huge milestone for me. It has given me the validation I needed to keep on writing.

Thanks, Keli. Love checking in on you.

  6. Roxanne Sherwood says:

    Hi, Keli!

Congratulations! You’ve done a wonderful job. I think 10,000 hits in six months is amazing!

Last year, I learned to survive after my husband died suddenly from a heart attack.

This year, I’m learning that I can write again. My milestone (and validation) was being named the overall winner of the 2008 Touched by Love contest.

  7. C.J. Redwine says:

Yay you! It’s a testament to the time and effort you put into it.

My milestone for this past year was finaling in the Golden Heart because it pushed me up to the next level of my writing career and put me in touch with so many incredible friends. 🙂

  8. Congrats, Keli!!! So exctiting! (and very impressive!)

My milestone was finally getting The Call after over 10 years of writing and submitting. 🙂

  9. Congratulations, Keli! That’s a big milestone. My most recent milestone is I’ve averaged 250+/month visits to my website. No where near 10,000 but it’s a start.

  10. Congratulations, Keli!! What a milestone to reach. I’m thrilled for you and all the readers who’ve found you so far! Here’s to the next 10,000. 🙂

  11. D D Scott says:

Fabulous success is all yours, Keli!!!

I’m thrilled to have contributed to your joy.

And speaking of joy…finding my Sweet Man was my life’s turning point.

For years, I’d worked and worked then worked some more to make baby steps coupled with gigantic leaps in my writing career. I was happy, I thought, and didn’t need anyone to share my joy. Then I met Sweet Man…he taught me that no amount of joy, success or happiness is enough unless you have someone in your life to celebrate and share the moments beside you.

  12. Congrats on reaching such a fabulous milestone, Keli! Not that I’m surprised–with the amount of work you put into each and every interview, I can’t imagine people not being entertained.

My all-time most memorable milestone was becoming a mom. Nothing beats that. Second, getting that magical 3-book contract!

  13. Becky says:

    Hi Keli–
Congrats on this amazing milestone. I would’ve expected nothing less from you. 🙂

My most memorable personal milestone was when I found out I was pregnant with my first child–we’d tried for 3 years!

Professionally, it was getting the call that I was a GH finalist. It opened a lot of doors for me and now I have my first book coming out next summer.

  14. Keli Gwyn says:

Thanks to all of you for stopping by. Your kind words and support mean a great deal to me.

I owe this milestone to my awesome guests and wonderful visitors. Nice to see some guests here on this post as visitors. I enjoyed shining the spotlight on you, Anne, Annette, CJ and Sue, my fellow Pixie Chicks.

And then there are fellow Pixies, Becky, who will be my guest on December 15, and Louisa, who can expect an invitation very soon.

Welcome back, Carla, the 2007 Golden Heart inspirational category winner, who was a guest in July, and D.D., the one whose post was up when the 10,000th visitors logged on. You ladies rock!

Good to see you back, my faithful visitor Jessica. Glad you enjoy reading my guests’ inspiring stories.

Walt, I’d say your blog is doing great with over 8,000 hits. Congrats!

And Keena, yeehaw on those 250 visits to your Web site each month. That’s impressive. Mine gets a whopping 16 or so a month. You’re obviously doing something right.

Roxanne, my heart aches to hear of your loss. I thank the Lord for helping ease the pain with your Touched by Love win this year. I was at the Faith, Hope and Love mini-conference in SFO when your name was called. I’m thrilled for you and expect news of your first contract offer on the FHL loop any day.

And, Missy, I can only imagine how wonderful it must have been to get The Call. I get goosebumps each time a guest shares hers. I’m thrilled to see your career as a published writer going so well.
